Festival of the Winds, September 2011
The Festival of the Winds, took place at the Bondi Pavillion this September 2011 with a spectacular motion of kites of all shapes and sizes. International and Australian kite flyers were showcasing their own designs of kites. These unique and colourful kites filled the air with colours, bright images and great emotions.
There was a special area for the experts to fly their amazing kites. But apart from them there was a great amount of people flying their colourful kites of different colours and shapes. So everyone had a chance to come down and fly their own kite. There were some nice kites for sale for those who loved the idea and wanted to join straight away. For those who wanted to be more creative, some kite making workshops were organised. You could just make it and fly it to brighten up the sky.
Children’s entertainment was organised on a high level. Kids could enjoy some of the most favourite activities, such as face painting, animal farm, puppet show, jumping castles, craft workshops and so much more.
The food was also amazing. There was a great variety of international gourmet food. You could spoil yourself with some delicious meals right there in the centre of this spectacular event.
It was all in one: great kite flying, great entertainment, great food and great family activity as such. Just remember to use public transport to travel to the Festival of the Winds next year. Finding a car spot there is a challenge at this time.

This round and colourful kite wasn't very high in the sky but when it was in the air it was beautifully spinning around.

Unfortunately, I didn't have a chance to see this amazing kite in the air. But I guess it would have been really cool up there.

Bondi Beach was magically turned into the ocean as three of these fantastic whale kites where up in the sky.

Hundreds of people gathered together on Bondy Beach, Sydney to fly their beautiful and bright kites of all shapes and sizes.

The wind wasn't good enough on that day and sometimes it was really hard for kite flyers to get their whale kites in the air.

This is my favourite kite photograph. It was just breathtaking to see these graciously moving whale kites in the sky.

I called it a monster kite. I love the character and brightness of colours of this fierce kite sliding through the air.

Isn't it magical to see this cool killer whale kite moving just above our heads making you feel lite a part of the ocean world.

A whale kite and an octopus kite, flying so well together and complimenting this beautiful and peaceful ocean theme of the day.

A burst of colours of these nicely moving kites kept my eyes enjoying the scene. It was so much fun watching them fly.

The clouds started coming and I saw this beautiful kite flying right towards this dark cloud. I love the contrast of the picture.

Ocean creatures kites where very popular on the festival of the winds this year. I loved the ocean kites theme.

Another picture of the whale and the baby whale kites. There were not easy to lift up on such a not windy day.

Alien kite and monster kite kept flying and nearly chasing each other in the sky. They truly made the festival enjoyable.

People around were flying kites, photographing them and just enjoying this sunny, warm magically colourful day.
